So I have a fair amount of Autocad R14, 2000, and a few 2004's I can get rid of. Is there much of an interest in these older versions? I've already wasted more money than I wanted on posting stuff on eBay and it not selling (none of it was the autocad programs though). I'd like to get some money for all this software. I have other software sitting around too, all of its late 90s early 00's... off the top of my head I know I have about 20 unopened Windows 2000 or Millennium Pro's sitting around, and some other office oriented stuff.

Why. Its all free. I mean uhhhhh you might have some luck. Just advertise that they can upgrade to 08 for lil to nothing.

Maybe true w/ some but not w/ AutoCAD... 2004's just as good as 2007/08... I actually liked it better... Not sure what you'd get for it b/c most people that "need" it or actually use it already have it...

I'd be interested in it... but you need XP pro to run it right? shoot me a pm about price for the 04

I use 08 and def some differences that I like. Older than 04 just gives me a headache for the $ but would be great for someone doing cages, parts, etc. Alot of people do like 04 more though due to 08 being a lil more complex imho.

well it seems there is/might be a slight interest. Ill go down to the "office" tomorrow and pick them up and give a total count. I only have a few 04s and I might even have to dig those up. we'll see.

send some info my way if you can, my last experience with AutoCAD was version 12 I think. I got enroll with the CAD institute in AZ. moved out there and things went bust for me, came home and put myself through technical college. I'd love to get some authentic stuff for my personal use, I just can't justify the latest greatest version, Thanks Signed SERIOUSLY interested!

Solidworks and Inventor are much better than ProE in my opinion and experience.

Soon SolidWorks, Pro E ,and Auto Desk Inventor software will rule the world.
That's nice. Here have a cookie...

Also...remember that not everyone designs a widget. Pro E or any other solid modeling programs don't do crap when you are designing a building.

I would definatly be interested in a copy of AutoCAD 2004, but if you run out, I may be interested in a 2000.

And Matt, send me a PM or something about the pros/cons of inventor and pro|e.

But what if it's a building widget?

(But I agree autocad=good for building and plant layouts etc)

I'm a moron. forgot the pertinent bit.
Depending on price, I'd be interested. I lost "my" copy of it when I left my last job. (Don't really need one for an investment company you know?) :(

What is involved in upgrading an older version like that?
Anyway, I might be interested in a 2004 version, depeinding on details...

I will warn all upgrading is not as cheap as you may think..

but for the most part 2004 will do everything most here need it to do..

FYI: 2009 just came out..

Google Sketchup is free and easy to use. Its not as technical though, but great for making designs to scale.

well i went to look and see how many of what i have, i only have two 2004s and only one of those had a users guide. I have 4 2000s and 4 R14's. I've also gat McAfee Pro 2000, Windows Front Page 2000, Microsoft Ghost or something like that, and im sure some other stuff. since there is little to no desire for software this old what's my best bet? Pawn shop?

contact a local seller like cadre and they can price you. I wanna say it was around 800 to upgrade but dont hold me to that. Not to bust on this thread but most people here would be very happy with lt for around a g new. I used it for a few mo and besides the crappy xref probs (which 90% will never use) it was fine.

pawn shop? I'm confussed, are you or are you not putting them up for purchase through NC4x4?

nono not the auto cad programs, all the other random stuff like windows 2000, mcafee 2000, front page 2000... and all those other random microsoft programs that are usually followed by a 2000 or 2001

I would post them in a for sale ad.

I bet some people would buy them..

I mean anyone here can use autocad and it will work fine..
also you can stil use forntpage 2000 and with a little practie make an ok website.

but if you have office products I bet you those would sel. like outlook, excel, word, etc
