I am debating between putting an Exo Cage on my TJ as apposed to putting in a full internal cage. My Jeep is a family jeep that has to be four passenger. So space is limited, That is what has me thinking Exo Cage, I like the looks of it also. I do understand the the use of my soft top will be hindered, I can work with that.

So what do you think?

I would like to hear what you think the pro and cons would be. I am in the process of designing both in Bend Tech as soon as I am done I will post some designs.

Sorta like to this one

Yes I know that is a JK, Its hard to find a TJ with one, Which makes me want to do it more.

Ive had both in xj's...I felt 15x Safer and relaxed in my exo one though. (im fairly tall and always wondered about hiting the bar (Ouch)

-If i was going to do it on a tj i would do a NICE internal cage..I could still use all my tops and it would look good. (if done right)..It would keep weight down also

-The exo will be heavy as hell! and look ugly..But will keep the body looking good and more room and comfort for everybody on board..

Why not go internal cage with some bars on the outside protecting the fenders and such. You don't see many tj exo's because there isn't much need when you're topless and they're heavy. The one pictured is a bit much IMO

I will most likey do the internal, But I like throwing Ideas around.

Maybe like Braxton said do the internal and add some additional bars, Maybe one up and over the hood to tie the two fender bars together, but not the top bars. Maybe a half breed, Some exo with a internal cage.

My theory is in a smaller rig go exo becuase of the room issues. I run a burban so an exo would hinder me and I have the extra room inside. Another reason for an exo is to protect the body from damage. I plan to build an XJ for my wife and will most likely do a combo exo/internal to protect the bodies of the jeep and the family.

build what YOU want, it's YOUR jeep.

I don't like exo's, but i have seen some hybrids that i would own. somedays i like the idea of running a bar across the cowl of my jeep, starting at the rocker guards, and tying it into some tube fenders and a grill hoop. Kinda like an exo from the firewall forward. but somedays i think it would like sh*t.

In the end I will do what I want regardless of what you guys say, So there is no need to yell, ;)

Im gonna do a hybrid on my 4runner because I dont want to mess up anything that holds glass. Exo on the front and bottom back and im gonna stay inside on the back half because of the removable top.
