is "a little gear oil" a normal thing?

i recently got a Blue Torch Fab 8.25 cover and it has always had a little dribble of gear oil from the drain plug, i also had this issue with my stock diff cover. it is never enough to accumulate in the driveway or anything, just constantly on the cover itself right under the plug. just wondering if this is anything to be worried about
thanks,
Geoff

teflon tape works great. A lot of cars and trucks have this small leak. If it is not making spots in the drive way you should be fine. Just check the leavel at oil change.

thanks guys, i think i have some teflon tape laying around here somewhere but if not i will go look for some RTV
thanks again for the advice,
Geoff
on the positive side, gear oil is a good rust-repellant...
<==you gotta click it because i am having some issues with my photobucket

paint?

While you get the RTV, Stop by the $$ store and buy some paint!!

yeah yeah, that was the project for this weekend...

looks a little better, sanded, 3 coats of primer and 3 coats of paint. hope that keeps the rust away for a little bit

How much, and where from??

just a can of rattlecan primer and a can of High Heat black spraypaint (just figured that would be able to take the most abuse) from Wal-Mart. i bought a couple cans for some of my other stuff i need to paint, but for the diff i couldnt have spent more than 10 bucks

i think he was asking where the cover came from??? BTF maybe?

and its funny, because if i paint anything under my xj, i make sure not to mask anything so that everything else close will get a free coat of paint in the process.......

oh sorry, that would make more sense. yeah, Blue Torch Fab Chrysler 8.25 Kryptonite Diff Cover, around $140.00...ordered it through Andy at the rockshop
awspence, i like that painting method too, i just didnt have enough paint this time to give everything a good coat. i would have ended up with a speckled underbody
