Is my starter going bad?
Over the last couple weeks, the wife’s WJ is sounding like when you are starting it, the starter is turning the engine over slower than normal. Sunday morning it turned so slow it was obvious it was not going to start, so I turned the key back to off, then started it again and it started. I also have a 2000 TJ and 96 ZJ, all with 4.0’s, and the WJ definitely is now turning over slower than them. The battery is only about a year and a half old, but I did take it to Autozone and they tested the battery and alternator and said everything is fine.
No corrosion on the battery posts, cables are tight on battery posts. Didn’t crawl under it to look at connection on starter.
Everything else is fine. No check engine light, runs great.

Probably a starter. I'd check the connection at the starter first though.

Checked the connections. Everything is good. Ohm'd out the cables, looks good too. Now, who makes a good starter for a stock WJ?

those machines dont always work right. it happen to me in mt. city in my xj

and most of the people working the machine are idiots. I've had to show them how to work it numerous times when I've had my parts checked
