Is my trans going to get messed up if I don't hook up the kickdown/TV cable?

I have the TF727 auto trans. Will it be harmed in any way if I don't hook up the kickdown/TV cable? Is it used only for down shifting for faster acceleration? Thanks.

Not sure exactly what it does but I've been told by everyone I've asked that if you don't hook it up it shifts like at the wrong times and stuff.

It will cause irratic shifting and / or premature upshifts, which is hard on the tranny.

Here is a decent explanation of how it does that and from that I think you can see where it might be hard on the tranny.
