Well some of you may know this person and his rig...

He had a lot to do with me getting heavily into modifiying my rig and always telling me that if someone says it will not work to do it and prove them wrong :)

this pic was from Oct 2000

As you can see it is not an XJ but a heavily built rig...

Would definitely be the "CommandToad" (RIP). I rode with him while my peepster  was undergoing mods and decided that it would be far less $$ to simply start with a Bullnose (had everything I wanted stock... better axles, V8, auto, manly front clip, 104" WB, etc). Sold the peepster and bought the Moss...

Not the biggest, baddest, high $$$ rig out there, but has embarrassed the @#$%! out of it's share of bigger rigs!

Nolen Grogan's, "High5"s, Ed Westerberger "Rocktaxi", and Moorefield's cruiser all influenced mine... With the paint being influenced by Butch Baker's cruiser.

Now I just need some stronger (but still light!) axles and some links...

Well, since you asked...

Treebiscuit, please tell me what about those rigs inspired you to "build" a freakin gmc jimmy with a "3-4 inch body lift and 31s." Please tell me, im dying to know.

Or is it just another chance for you to post "tank" pictures? Yeah, thats what i thought.

Pwnt!! :D :driver:

nothing in particular for mine, since there's not many people out there really building newer rams, or any dodges for that matter. i've always liked cab trucks though, v8 power w/ 1 ton or bigger axles, so if anything that's been my inspiration. i originally bought the truck to be a DD and tow rig for my go fast car hobby...

rufus, why dont you post some pics of the dodge. for as long as i've been on this site, i dont recall ever seeing a picture of your truck.

First, I don't make a joke of anyone else's handle, and there are some here that could be made to sound REALLY funny. If you know what I mean.

Second, yeah, it was half a gag, but I am ex-military and I'm trying to get that Jimmy to look as much like one of those as you can without actually welding on armor plate. Call it my "thing", if you want to. I found a flat-steel brush guard that was on a little Bronco for $25, it'll be going on soon. Then a rattle-can camo job comes next. Okay?

Third, yeah, I know most of you say "build" and really mean you BUILT the thing from the rubber up. Okay, mine came basically the same way it sits now except for that bumper. Fine. I'm not claiming I built it, just that I'm modding it some.

In case anyone missed it, I don't expect to take that Jimmy crawling over boulders the size of a house, either. You guys that have one that does that impress the hell out of me for a lot of reasons, not least that you know HOW to build one of those and have the dough to do it with.

So save the sarcasm, eh? That goes for "Captain Oblivious", too.

Imitation is the best form of flattery. I've gathered most of the parts I need to reproduce this buggy right down to the wheels and tires this winter. The only difference will be where as this one is 54" at the cowl mine will be 48" and this one has a CJ front clip, mine will have a "glass" TJ cowl/hood/grill all narrowed. This one is Lexus powered, mine will be Chevy LT1 powered. My buddy is taking a month off of work to bend up the chassis and fit it to my big ass...lol...hopefully early next spring we'll have it completed..

It'd be fun to see both of those running together.

yeah, i need to post some current pics of it and the "progress" i've made, it's been a while. i really don't have alot to do to have it at least rolling, just a matter of that elusive thing called time. i've got pics from before i tore it down a couple years ago if you're interested...
