Is this for real, URE race?

Seems real to me....... where is the "rock crawling" going to take place in Uhwarrie? Kodak and Budweiser? Maybe they are bringing in some rocks.............

A $10,000 payout (50% cash/50% prizes) to first place! Is anyone familiar with this promotions company?

I met up and rode the course w/ the guys running it on my last trip to Uwharrie....

From what they told me the race starts at the bottom of Daniel (at the parking lot) and ends back at the road after you go up Kodak, etc.... So it's pretty long..

I think the course changes depending on class (like around kodak or the actual hill at daniel)...

Should be interesting... I bet you'll need a respirator down there that weekend....

Dang, that should be interesting.

SO anybody in Carolina Trailblazers have more info?? ( your club logo is on the site )

is Uwharrie gonna shut down the park for the day? for this event?

what happens when others(public) is on the trails?

is there a speed limit on the trails system at Uwharrie?

would love to know more about this?

I'm calling BS. Werock, XRRA and all of the other real rockcrawling bodies don't have near that kind of payout. URE? yeah right.

^Ditto. I swear you read my mind.

Does anyone else think the 7 minute time interval will not be enough with mixed classes? If they ran the same class all at one time it might be ok, but the D class will be MUCH faster than the A class. I foresee the A class (stock) having problems with the ledge on daniel and holding up everyone else. It could easily take a team 7 min to get up that ledge, especially if they have < 33" tires (stacking rocks, etc.). What do you think?

Also, why a full face helmet? Is that the norm for "rock racing"?

Don't know how they will pull it off. It Will force URE to close that weekend because they are selling tickets and runing the race. Also we had tried to sell stuff in the past at URE as a club and were told by the ranger that you can not sell or profit of anything at URE at anytime. That is why when we do big cookouts people are ask to donate if they want to help cover the food. Maybe this is different, if so then I see a URE NC4x4 only party weekend.... What you think....?
If they can close it down to the ATVers then why not us?
Be nice to have a few private weekends a year.

That looks like fun. If it is a go, I'll be there. But, damn, $350 to enter?

$350 * 160 registrants = $56,000.
That's a snotpile of money. Where is it all going?

Total of all prizes is only $32,900, and that's assuming it's all in cash coming from the entrance fees. If the "50% in prizes" are from sponsor donations then that's only $16,450 accounted for.
I know some will be spent on food, etc - but not $25k??

Maybe they are paying a huge fee to closet he park... something to justify the loss of all teh normal $5 passes? But even then, how much could that be? $2500?
However, I have trouble seeing that could be legal, since it's National Forest land, technically all citizens have equal access b/c it's paid for by our tax money.

According to the guys... people like MAXXIS are already signed up to show up... Other larger vendors as well..

They said they'll have paintball and other games/booths,etc for non-racers..

IDK.. it seemed far fetched to me when I talked w/ them but who knows..

Interesting...I don't know much about the professional circuits so forgive my ignorance. How much does it cost to enter one of the XRRA or werock races?

Not all of the classes are $350 to enter.

Assuming 4 evenly divided classes of 40 rigs each:

$100 x 40 = $4,000
$175 x 40 = $7,000
$250 x 40 = $10,000
$350 x 40 = $14,000

for a total of $35,000

what ledge are you talking about? i ran daniel with my 31's and had little trouble, no stacking rocks or anything

Thanks, I didn't catch that.
It dosn't say, but lets pretend an even split between catagories, 40 per.
That's $35,000 total income. Assuming sponsors do not pay infor showing up.
Still leaves $18k unaccounted for if 50% of teh prizes are donated?

Also, I've go ta gripe w/ class definitions. "modified stock" has stock gears AND diffs, but goes to 35" tires. So if you'd regeared just the 3rds for 32s for friendly MPGs in an otherwise mild-stock vehicle, you're up against the 36" tire crowd.

FEES

$100 A class
$175 B Class
$250 C Class
$350 D Class

For those that have not put on a event there are a lot of things that cost money. You will need to pay out from the entry fees that are just part of the money going in the pot, the venders also pay a fee. Then you got to pay out for food, insurance, port a pots, cops, traffic control, rental of park, trash pickup, tents, cleanup, and so on .........

no large cutouts for stock class, what does that mean. i cut my front fenders bc they were wrecked and easier and cheaper to cut out the carnage then hammer it out or get new ones. and my rear, i just took the sledge hammer to it, all the metal is still there, just smushed up.
i really want to enter the stock class and beat my shit to hell

Don't know about entry fees, but they don't payout that kind of money.

If this was real, you'd hear about it, they'd be trying to promote it.

please let this be true...I've been practicing my hi-speed UNF skills for years. I'll gladly pay $350 to race a course I know that well, especially at higher speeds.
