ok, got a truck in my yard. if i call the guy and tell him to get it out of my yard within a week, can i scrap it? or part it out? or w/e? its been in my yard for 2 months and i havent really had a problem with it until we got into a huge arguement. whats the legal way to get rid of it with out me really doing much? its an 86yota so if i can scrap it i dont think i need the title. (atleast thats what i'm told)

id call the cops report an abandoned vehicle then call a tow/storage service and let them get it...

then again maybe just give itt a week or two and you'll be boys again

Does he have the title? Proof of Ownership of any kind?

If not, scrap it, no one can prove its not yours :flipoff2:

I'd tell him he has a week or it will be gone. If he doesn't get it then do what you please with it. Just try and have it documented that you want it gone within a week. I had a buddy leave some tires at my house and I told him they would be burnt if he didn't come get them. They were gone that day by the time i got back from work

Yeah man, tell the guy he has a week to get it gone, or you are going to call the cops and have declared an abandoned vehicle. You may be mad now, but wait till both of you cool of before you do something to put more fuel on the fire...

i'm over being mad. hes wrecked my xj wheelin and i had to pay to fix it. so if i can get some money out of this i'd like to think of it as a way of paying my debts of parts.

a guy left a truck on our land awhile back cause he went to jail but if the trucks stays there so long u can get the title to it. im not sure how long tho ill check into it and tell u. but we have that truck and the title to it now

First question is do you own the property? I mean is the land in your name? Have you done work to the truck that he owes you money for? You can not legally dispose of the truck on your own. being that this is a public forum is the proof that you are not the legal owner. Call the cops to have it towed or the DMV to try and get a lein on the title. Illegally disposing of the truck will cause troubles in the end whether you tell the guy to move it or not. Just some words of wisdom, Ask me how I know?

What kind of truck is it? I may need some parts:flipoff2:

id snatch everything off of it that isnt welded down and say a van full of amigos with guns got everything.

I was just talking to our police about a situation I am having. They told me that if I can prove that I asked them to not park on my property, block my driveway . . . then I could have it towed. They have to pay the pay company to get their vehicle back. A certifed letter in the mail should be enough proof. I agree that parting it out without the title is asking for trouble. But you can call the tow truck directly. Just be prepared for court if he takes it that far.

in the original post it was an 86 yota truck 4x4. the land is in my parents name. (buying the house)the truck does run but it runs like sh#$. (bottom end) i'll contact the police when iget some time. but i think i'llbe passin by a place he stays so i'll tell him hes got a week.

how can i get the title? i'd love to make it a small project/beater

do some reserch, stop buy your local sherifs office talk to them yourself. it might be different county to county. or do the right thing and have a buddy trailer it to an undisclosed location, ect...

If it's on you land you can just call a towing company and they will come git it. I've done it quite a few times when people left them at my rental houses.

x2

the tow company will store it for so long, then get rid of it to cover towing charges, etc. If he wants it he'll have to pay to get it back. You won't get any $$$ out of it, but it'll be out of your way. I've done this same thing in the past.
