im lookig to get a Hard top for an 86 CJ7. someone told me that a top from a 87-95 YJ will fit on a CJ7. i was wondering if this was true and if i need to make any modification to make it work?

thanks.

IT is true..... you might have to drill a couple of holes to bolt it down.... I didnt use the "strip" that Jeep used... just a couple holes and bolts with washers.

I didnt get the hard doors for mine... Was too cheap, the soft doors will NOT fit properly.... You will want a set of doors and the striker for the door latch...

The rear liftgate is different on the CJ and YJ hardtops. A CJ liftgate closes on top of the CJ tailgate, while the YJ swingaway rear door closes on top of the hardtop liftgate. The CJ rear liftgate is a little shorter than the YJ liftgate, but I think if it interferes, you can cut off the YJ sealing lip and make it work on a CJ.

Also, they do make soft doors that fit with hardtops. Its theupper rear corner that is usually the problem. If it is a square corner that closes on top of the softop, its not gonna work with the hardtop. The soft doors that work with hardtos have a rounded corner, shaped like the hard doors.

Just buy my top and doors, they are a perfect fit:huggy:
