On cj7's/yj's/tj tubs, when ya'll do the comp cut in the rear

ie: strait cut back from the top of the wheel well to the back of the tub then around the back some as well

and do mild spring over lift like 2 to 4" what size tire can generally be run?

My specific situation would be no fenders front, comp cut rear, on a 95 yj tub wanting to fit 38.5x14.5 tsl sx's on axles that are aproximatly 63" wide.

Thanks

if you're asking if that can be done, of course it can be done, but 4" lift springs sprung over would be way too much. i've personally seen up to 44s on a mild spring over lift with lots of cutting. spring over with stock springs or there-about would be fine for 38.5

:fuck-you:

lol, OK so not much lift required then. I wasn't sure but I have about 6 pairs of different random spring packs lying around so I can probably use a combo of two of them to get what I need, I just don't want to have to make huge bumpstops to keep from nailing my body/frame/whatever when I flex.

I've got flat 0" Full traction springs on the front of my YJ and a comp cut rear with a coilovers sitting pretty level with a set of 37s on it. you could easily run a set of 38s with that setup or with 1-2 more inches of lift if you'd more uptravel. but that depends if you like the low and long setup like mine:

sure, here is one of where I cut it at and how it looked with the comp corner put on. I cut it that way mainly b/c of the shape of the BTF corner. Other corners have a less rounded transition to the rear. if you're not using a corner on the rear you can of course cut if however you'd like.

thanks, i can't wait to get everything done and get it out to Tellico:driver:

sorry, all the metal has gone to the scrap yard

went over them with a flap disc on a grinder

i used a mix of sawsall, pneu. cut-off wheel, and jig saw to get the radius that i wanted... a plasma would make quick work of it, *IF'n* you don't have a 1/8 - 1/4" of bondo covering everything like mine does :shaking:

(but that's taking care of itself with each trip out)

Here are a few more comp cut pictures. I didn't make it pretty because I feared it would turn into the ugly theme I have with the jeep anyways. :bling:

I had cut out the fenders to fit bushwackers a couple years back, that's why the front of the fender is cut all the way to the inner well. Future plans after the motor swap are full wrap rear tube fenders, tied into the frame, cage, sliders, and front tube fenders. That'll make the rear cage mount tougher because after cutting all that metal away, there doesn't seem like much support for that mount.

Runnin 38's, Scout II dana 44's. Pushed the axle back 6 inches (which ended up lifting the rear an inch or two...but I blame that on the beer).

I need longer shackles but am afaid of having them stick to far past the bumber, thinking I'd back into a tree and reverse the shackle easily.
