I drive an 04 TJ and i was wondering if anyone else has problems with the stock cd player when playing burned CDs. Mine will spit them out and say error, but once in a blue moon it will play the CD perfectly, and other times it will play it but stay stuck in the same song. I was wondering if maybe there was something wrong with my cd player and see if i could get it fixed under warranty...or if all Jeep cd players are this crappy. I dont wanna get an aftermarket one bc it could get stolen..

The stock cd player on my 00 doesn't play burned discs either. That's mostly what I have so I just settle for road noise instead.

Most stock CD's will not play CDRW's, try just using CDR's, the CD's you can only write to once.

Not in my Jeep, but in her Honda we have a pioneer super tuner III, never skips, plays all of them, and had off of Ebay for around 465 when we got it.

You folks with TJs are pampered, I have an voltmeter where AMC put the 8-track
My wifes 99 XJ and my 01 Ram both don't like burned CDs. I thought it was just the cheap CDs, I think it will play if burned on more expenesive CDs.

Now this is weird. My old 01 Ram head unit played everything, including tapes (haha).

My TJ doesn't have any radio, CD player, nothing in it. There are remote winch controls where the radio used to be.

I invested in a radio that will play mp3's... you can put 100+ songs on one cd and it will even tell you the info about the song!

My stock radio with no cd player ('00 TJ) was specially tuned for AM radio me thinks. Not much else sounds good on it.

CJ Radio

The radio I bought 17 years ago dosen't play cassets anymore and also loses the station presets when turned off. When I have money to invest in a stereo for my Jeep I guess I'll be done building it. Prolly never happen.

I have a stock am/fm TJ radio, worked when I took it out, free if anyone will come and get it, I'm not shipping it anywhere.

I had the same probably with my stock '00 TJ CD player. Didn't matter whether CD-R's or RW's. Eventually got to the point where it was not even playing regular ol CD's (thanks Uwharrie dust).

Yup, same here on the dust too.
I've got mine blown out to the point where it's playing the CD's again but I haven't taken it to Uwharrie lately

well i guess thats my answer...i hate gettin an aftermarket head unit because it can be stolen easily. I dont lock my Jeep and the reason I got rid of satellite radio was bc i had to remove the unit and lock it everytime and that got annoying. I like to just get in and drive. Also, I thought that it may be cheap CDs, but nope I bought good brand Cds and they dont play. So actually I think I found the culprit...it seems to be the one bad thing about apple. My jeep would play CDs perfectly when they were burnt on my old PC...but somethin about the Mac Superdrive must not be compatible with the cd player...

arghh

My player doesnt play burned ones either, then again though, its crap.

I hate that thing, some alpine poopy CD player.

If anyone wants to trade me for the stock stereo system (I want a TAPE DECK..thats right, a teenager who actually WANTS a tapedeck...) let me know..

Rod my 04 cd player played the burnt CD's. A friend of mine had the same thing happen to hers but the dealer fixed hers under warranty. I'll give you mine if you want to swap in

same thing happened to my 01' dodge durango. if i remember correctly, it was the type of cd's i was using to burn, and/or the way is was burning them. you have to go into the "options" menu and try changing the burn speed (to the slowest) and dont use cd-rw's, just cd-r's. and that should do it.
