Code Description
11 No crank reference signal detected during engine cranking.
Intermittent loss of either camshaft or crankshaft position sensor.
CKP sensor target windows have too much variation.

i need some help understanding this. what does that mean?

thanks ahead of time

The ECM can\'t read a valid crank signal during cranking, possible causes:
bad crank sensor
bad crank ground
misaligned or damaged sensor(easy to do when servicing trans or clutch
damaged flywheel reluctor ring

It also mentions the cam sensor because they share the same 5 volt reference signal, so there could be a problem with the 5 volt supply, either sensor can cause a loss of reference voltage

Now before throwing a $100 or so crank sensor at it(like most \"mechanics do\") you could check the basics and maybe learn something. If you don\'t have a scan tool that can display data while cranking bust out your DMM (digital multi meter)

First with the key on check for 5 volts at the orange wire on the sensor, next you can check continuity on the brown/yellow wire(ground with battery) while continuity isn\'t the best test it will work in this instance, next is the signal, the grey and black wire is the signal to the PCM. Using min/max on your meter you should be able to see a variation in the voltage while cranking, if not then the sensors prolly bad.

I\'d at least check the ground and 5 volt reference at the sensor before buying a crank sensor
