I have an 89 Jeep Cherokee, I have had for a little over a year now that is pretty much stock. I have become interested in the whole jeepspeed idea and was wondering if anybody had any practical advice on the best, most economical things to do to my jeep first off?

there is a good thread goig on at PBB of a build up of a Jeepspeed rig. Its really detailed and over the top for most, but is a good read. Its still early in the build right now

I think it would be awesome to build one. I've always been into the speed side of the off road world. There's nothing more impressive to me than to build a 4000 lb. rig that can hit woops at 100 mph and not hardly bounce. I have been trying for years to find some one who was willing to let me build them one. The biggest problem around here is there isn't anywhere to do it unless you have access to endless pasture land.
In your case what I would do is build it more for things like the 4x4 cross with a smaller tighter course. Depending on what you want to spend you could get rear springs made with a fairly high arch and lots of thin leaves mounted spring under. Then have some custom long shackles made that mount through the frame. Get good quality king fox or sway shocks with the right valving. Make long arms for the front with JJ's or large heims to take the hard hits and run a good progressive coil with air bumps, and last but not least get a cage and have all your spring buckets shock mounts and frame reinforced to the gills. LOL! bring it to me and I'll get started. If you do get it started do a build on here I'd love to see how it goes.

Don't worry about the haters bro. like they said in Field of Dreams:"If you build it, they will come."

ehhh I would come if it was Toyota speed:flipoff2:

Toyota and speed don't go in the same sentece. Now if you want to get there without breaking down......then toyota all the way....And yes I'm a Toyota guy.

I think this would only help if you were on the streetglo circuit:beer:

Anyway I feel your pain, I really would like for there to be jeepspeed style events to happen, I love to race. Money and time are always the biggest bumps in the road. Did I mention I am looking for sponsers:driver:

the carsponsors.com thing is available for all types of stuff. there are even a few of the guys that mudrace at ace speedway and uwharrie stables that are using this.

First of all, thanks for all the input so far. And to the ones who had the "helpful" advice to relocate, it ain't gonna happen. I know there is no area around here to do the full jeepspeed experience but I am just wanting a rig that is somewhat speed capable. I am a self proclaimed off road speed nut. I love dirtbikes, monster trucks, trophy trucks, stadium trucks, etc. I think anyone can go fast on pavement but it takes a real driver to go fast over obsacles. I would really love to build something that would do well at UREcross. So anymore advice in that direction would be helpful. Thanks, Jon.

If you want to build a rig for the 4x4cross, you know where my garage is.
