JK advice

Bent front axle housings. Rear track bar bracket tearing off, it's an easy fix and they sell braces. Thats all I can think of right now.

.....and ZERO power.
Oh.....As much as I hate to say it, auto's seem to handle bigger tires better. You will constantly be dogging a manual to go anywhere!

That article is pretty good, but I think the gear reference is a bit vague.

07's have 4.10 Gears with an Automatic - which would be much better for a slight lift/tire upgrade than the standard 3.73's on 08's/later.

I think I'm remembering correctly (I was shopping for one awhile back before the dip in the economy)

Good Luck!

Drive it thoroughly. I've talked to people who have had some serious auto trans problems. While on the highway, sometimes the transmission decides it needs to downshift.

As others have said, low power output from the engine.

Other than those two things they seem to be pretty good. The wheel wells are huge so fitting larger tires is easier.

both my hard and soft tops have leaked since new, dealer never got them fixed right. have since sold the hard top. all my past Jeeps have leaked so I overlook it.

I have had 3 front axle seals replaced, and my navigation goes in and out. other than that, no major issues on my '07

I remember someone telling me they had a problem catching on fire, especially to 07's

But i think there was a recall or something to fix the problem, so maybe check that that was done

It can run 33's stock. Have him get a 3/4" spacer for the front and it will look much better. Also look for one with the tow package so it will be 4.10's. I honestly would not want one for a daily driver, a toy but not every day.

x2, if i got one it wouldn't certainly get a hemi.

I'm going to wait a year or two and watch the price go down some more then probably jump on one

Oh yeah, forgot about that:

Transmission lines let loose and sprays onto the exhaust. DEFINITELY look into it, probably a simple fix or recall will take care of it.

X2 on the top leaking. Taken it back to the dealer like 5 times. Still leaks. Oh, tell your friend to make sure it' 4wd. They sell 2wd models.

gears.burrellsjeep;614636]Thanks,
I think the top leaking is a jeep thing that I don't understand :)
Yeah I made sure he was aware of the 2wds[/QUOTE]
Also, someone mentioned 4.10 gears with automatic models. Ours has 3.29 gears.
