Hoping someone here has some insight. I’ve been chasing this code for a year. Tends to come and go which is odd?

2017 jku stock drivetrain with 40k miles. Canister was moved by previous owner. Appears to be DIY without a relocation kit based on the shims and bracket.

I’ve installed a new canister, new purge valve, factory OEM gas cap from the dealer and replaced one hose that was worn. I’ve also had a shop fog it with their machine to find a leak and none were detected so I was told.

Jeep runs perfectly fine but the CEL is on which affects passing inspection.

I noticed there is an electrical plug (appears to be anyways) with nothing plugged into it. Gray cap on the opposite side by the red zip tie. I don’t have any plugs not connected or cut wires that I can find.

Assuming this could be a sensor and possibly is the issue? Anyone got a jk they can look under to see if this should be plugged in somewhere?

Anything else look out of sorts in these photos to anyone?

TIA

My Ram had exactly this same symptom (P0456); went through all the same parts (cap, purge valve, filter, etc). When I went to change the purge valve I found that the harness (hard hose) that was connecting to the purge valve had a hairline crack in it close to the fitting for the valve. I am unsure why it would pop up some times and not others but the "tempermanent" fix was sealing the harness crack (I used a self-vulcanizing rubber tape) until I can find the time to change the harness (I bought one two years ago, still have not installed it). Have not had the issue ever since.
