Junk Yards and Salvage Yards!!!!!!!!!

here is a thought.
Lets say I am a greedy bastard.
Lets say that I know of a good yard that has a few rare Yotas w/ rare parts I need and the prices are low. Its a small place few know about and they don't move parts very fast.
I'm a nice guy, so I tell my buddys, we go there ocxcasionally and get what we need.

Then it gets posted online, and *everybody* in the world knows. Now suddenly those rare parts get stripped and gone. Popularity of the place goes up, so do their prices and I can't get what I need anymore. Neither can anybody esle. Now who lost out?

I know this is warped way to think about it, but it many cases we talking about rarities and finite resources, maybe only 10,000 of Special Part X ever produced. Sometimes a little dicretion is a good thing. Remember that this is open to the whole world, there is a difference betwee nsharing with a group of people, and sharing with everybody..

I agree Rat...I have a couple of yards around me that I give my parts cars to in exchange for taking whatever parts I want out of there at no charge. I've given parts to people from this board out of that yard (60 shafts and 9" axles). But I'm not real keen on giving up the location of the source, there are too many goodies hiding in there.

I wondered if this would be the way this went! Kinda like asking a "fishing forum" the best spots to fish! (They are kinda secretive of those too!)

NC4x4 itself has been one of my best sources for stuff that I needed! I haven't done much "walk around the junkyard" in a long time, and the first place most folks start is just the yellerpages!

Would it be a good idea to have everyone share there places they go for stuff and what you found and what they have and how it works???? Does this sound like a good idea??? .

Bass fisherman are so psycho that you can tell them exactly where and what you caught your fish on that they will never think you are telling them the truth. 99% of them would never use your info. I don't think the junkyard vultures suffer from the same type of psycho thinking though.
