just installed locker now weird noise when turning while breaking hard

it sounds like a machine gun! it cant be good?

only does it some times

what could it be?

what kind of locker ? and in what vehicle ?

yes this is "normal" for what you have.

That you have installed it in the front axle with out some sort of disconnect or manual hub set up, I think you'll find you won't like it. If you have a center axle disconnect, use it, if not, you'll need to find a manual hub conversion kit.

Your running manual hubs, he's not....therefore its active on the street. With manual hubs, its invisible until you lock them in.

Haha, well in that case...disregard my elementary answer. For the record, I don't notice my lockrite either :).

Haha It's cool. :p

I've heard a lot of folks say they don't hear anything from their aussie (and some for lockrites for that matter) but wouldn't be too terribly concerned with ratcheting noises from a rig with auto hubs. If you hear any inconsistent noises (i.e. clicking or ratcheting while driving straight forward, etc) then I would be more concerned.
Also, don't be surprised if the noise fades after it has been worn in "nice and deep-like". But like I said, inconsistencies and big signs should show up before it fails or goes ka-boom.

i have a lock rite in my non disco 30, and i hear it ratchet in tight turns, but i would be a little more concerned if it made a loud noise like described

does the locker function correctly?

I haven't heard my aussie in my vaccuum disco 30 but then again my has only had trail use and even then was limited by boggers ability to grab brake lines and break them and then my mistake of not setting the retaining clip fully on my passenger side u-joint and sheering a yoke.

A rachetting sound is pretty normal. I have a buddy who calls lockers "chicka chickas"

Hard to say if what you are hearing is "normal" w/o hearing it.
Some people are more tollerant of noises in their rigs than others.

Was this a new or used locker?

Did you check your clearences when you installed it?
Did you do your after-install checks?
Did everything check out OK in the above checks?

Or

Did you leave one (or more) of your side gear shims out?

That is one of the more common calls I get -
Usually goes like this:

"Hey this won't get into spec."

Did you leave out the side shims?

"No There were no shims on my side gears"

Hmm really. Go look.

"Ahhh Oops - they were stuck to the gears. All better now"

no i have heard an aussie in a tj and mine is such a loud noise and my steering wheel shakes like crazy,

i put the shims in
idk what it could be
