In the realm of emissions control crap, what came on your vehicle when it was built has to stay on it, regardless of whether or not it works, correct?
Is there exceptions once the vehicle is more than 20 years old? One of the reasons I'm asking is, during a period when my nephew owned my ckee, it now has a safety inspection sticker rather than the emissions sticker. IIRC, all that means is it doesn't have to pass the emissions part of the test but still has to have all the junk that was originally built on it, unless it's a trail-only rig. Is my aged and pickled brain on the right track here?
:beer:pickling spices!

youre correct, all original parts have to be there and should be in functioning order, but it most likely doesnt need to be sniffed anymore if it just has the yellow sticker

Nothing gets 'sniffed' anymore, just the OBDII (96 and up) vehicles get plugged in and pay the $30 inspection. Vehicles before that, its the $9 yellow sticker, where they are supposed to visually confirm your vehicle has the OEM emmissions stuff.
