It seems like people have had all different types of experiences on this site, so I wanted to see if anyone has run into this before.
A buddy of mine's parents are divorced, while married they bought a piece of land. Father got the land in the divorce but never took the mother's name off the deed. Father is now remarried, and new wife's name is not on the deed, and buddy's mother's name is still on there. If his father were to pass away first and his will says everything goes to his new wife, what would be the legalities of that peice of property?
I told him I think there are three scenerios:
1) New wife gets the property
2) New wife and his mother are 50/50 in the property
3) His mother has 100% ownership of property.
What say you?
