Lawnmower repair

My mower is not a 4x4 but I thought I would ask the question here anyway. Looking for a trustworthy lawnmower repair in Charlotte/Concord area. My Sears Craftsman Twin Briggs engine needs something to make it run better - not sure what. Idles and starts fine but put it under a load like mower engagement or climbing hill and the engine knocks majorly and the power is way down. No knocking while sitting still or moving on level ground. I usually do my own stuff but I'm not even sure where to start.

Any thoughts on repair or a shop to take it to?

I'd start out with a compression check to see if it's worth saving before throwing any time or money at it.

There is a guy on Poplar Tent Rd between Cox Mill Rd and Harris Rd that I believes works on them. I know he sells used mowers. I'll try to get you a name or number on my way home from work today.

Sounds like you have a governor issue. Either way may be an adjustment or something and engine tear down to fix.
