Leaf Spring question

Ok, I know it has been discussed here and many other places. I have searched and read a ton and I am still confused a bit. What I need to know is....... what the offest is on XJ leaf springs and wagoneer springs. I want to install one or the other on a CJ5 to extend my wheelbase. I have read many posts that discuss the benefits of installing either, but can't find measurements to determine what amout of wheel base I will get with each one. Anyone with measurements of the springs eye to eye and the position of the pin would be great.

:driver: Thanks to all in advance.

IIRC, the Waggy (fullsize) are 47" eye-to-eye with about a 22"/25" offset pinhole. FWIW, I just did a Toy rear leaf swap on the front (very similar length & offset) as Commando leafs are offset from the factory and am more tham pleased with the results!

Don't recall the XJ length & offset, but MBAlbritton used them at both ends of his CJ5... ultra flexy (to the point you could get the back end bouncing like a ball with minimal effort), but he has yet to venture from his driveway in the 1.5 years since it was finished!

Front Waggy's are 22.5 / 24.5 to be exact..

Umm, Dave? Flexy springs don't make the vehicle hop...

I'm running XJ springs all the way around the offset is 6" longer on trailing end of the leaf... as the XJ runs them. I turned mine around to extend my wheel base out the back. theshort end is the same as the CJ or within 1/2" anyway. So I ran the short end on the front to the front as not to change my steering geometry.

As you can see here, The springs could use some help, so I ended up adding a couple leafs to the front, and I think one to the rear. as Dave mentioned I could bounce the front with two fingers on the front bumper... sans shocks that is.

After adding leafs

and what it does...

look across to the passenger spring rear and that's why I added a leaf to those packs.

mbalbritton.........Good lookin CJ5! Got any picsof it sitting with all 4's on the ground? What size tire are you running and what type and amount of lift?

What XJ springs are those? Fronts on all 4's? or running the fronts and rears from an xj on a cj?

(asking because I have an XJ topart out)

Thanks for the help guys.

yep, XJ Leafs all the way around under the CJ. I out boarded my springs, Shackle reversal, on J-truck 44 front and Waggy20 Rear. Sitting on 36's. Ended up a little higher than I wanted. I may bring it back down an inch or two.

I did the XJ springs on the rear and they work great!

You will need a traction bar since they are so flexy.

Pretty much... :D I bellieve they were a Waggy rear. There are two different Waggy Rear Leaf packs that I've seen. One that has an center pin that's ofset about 1.5-2" and another that's offset about 6".....just like the XJ. If I'm not mistaken the 6" offset packs can be found in models with AMC20's under them, but don't quote me on that.
