My power steering gearbox(?) is leaking real bad now... leaving a large puddle on the ground. It's a 99 TJ, do you think I can replace the gaskets/seals or do I need to get a new gearbox?
Seals?
Gearbox?

Also there's a slight squeaking noise that sometimes comes from under my hood. I need to get down and actually listen for it, but I'm thinking it may be my water pump? Is that what squeaking usually is?

dont try to take it apart you will never get it to work again. just get a reman box

Or, take it as an "opportunity for upgrade" and go for the AGR super box 2.
All depends on your budget.
I did the SB2 because it was less expensive than a new OEM box.
Ypu can find remans around $150 to $200 depending on the source.
Takes about 3 or 4 hours to do the swap if you are not a mechanic by trade.
Took me longer on my 93 YJ including a couple trips for parts and specific tools.
Water pump isn't hard to replace. Tedious but not difficult.

It's probably just the lower seal. Clean it up and see where it's leaking from.

As for the squeel it's probably the idler pully. You should be able to listen and see where it's coming from.

I'll clean it up and take a look. I went to autozone to get some fluid and saw they had leak stopping PS fluid. I'm going to give that a go to see if it'll stop leaking (hoping it'll fix any seal leakage). I'll clean it up and take a better look at it tonight.

Hm, would this explain why it idles @ 1k for about 5 seconds before it idles down to 800 after pushing the clutch in (started doing that about the same time it started occasionally squeaking)?
I'll check that out too later tonight.

Thanks for the replys guys!!!! :driver:
