legal question on turn signal

more of a legal question so i figured i'd throw it here
What's the legality of putting a tractor turn signal on my front driver side fender instead of ponying up the 40 dollars for a new turn signal?

As long as it is securley mounted and functions as the factory one would, you should have no problem passing.
