So, what has Lesnar done to be eligable to fight Randy for the title?? Lesnar has had lackluster fights at best. He nearly got his leg snapped off by Mir and layed on top of Heath Herring in his last fight. Herring is washed up anyways IMO. If Lesnar would ever expand his game past throwing haymakers and pinning guys down wrestling style, he might be worth watching. So what do you guys/gals think? Lesnar a worthy opponent/fighter for the title?

problem is thee HW division is hella weak.
If not Brock then who?

Besides regardless of skill Brock is the meal ticket right now, no one else would draw a bigger gate...

How 'bout Mir? Nogueira? or even Kongo? Kongo hasnt really had any highlight reels, but hes paid his dues more than Lesnar. But I do agree with the statement that Lesnar is whats hot right now. And the fact that hes going to be fighting a legend in Couture will sell twice as many tickets. I know its all about da benjamins I would just like to see a more worthy opponent.

What ever happened to Sylvia and Arlovski?

Sylvia and Arvloski went to another fight promotion. Money ruined MMA a few years ago. Brock carries a big name from his college and WWE days. Randy Couture speaks or himself and has big fan base. Based on that they are thinking big $$ pay per view revenue.

The UFC heavyweight division is well...... lame.

Plus couture is past his prime, he stands little chance of hurting Lesnar.
Lesnar is the golden egg right now.
3 years ago, couture would have seriously injured brock.

I think it will be a good match. I am leaning towards Couture, only because he is much quicker than Lesnar. Lesnar's chin has not been tested yet either.

so, Im watching the ultimate fighter on spike, and I couldve sworn that Dana White said multiple times that Nogueira is the UFC heavyweight champ. But in this article http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=news.detail&gid=14569 it states how Couture is making his long awaited return to the octagon to defend his title. So whats the deal?
I heard Dana say the same thing the other night...I thought he lost the belt when he got hurt and started making movies...Dana is also hoping to find some talent in the heavy class off of this show. There will end up being several winners to compete that come out of it.

Cotoure should be the hell out of Lesner. I watched Lesner fight and Im not really impressed by what he has, although you get caught with one of those haymakers and your probably dead.

OK you say Herring's washed up... what about Randy.. I mean come on now... his last 5 fights:

1. Beat Gonzaga (wow he's good)
2. Beat Sylvia (hmm...)
3. KO'd by Liddell
4. Beat Van Arsdale (who is he anyway)
5. KO'd by Liddell

SO... of his last 5 fights he'd been KO'd by Liddell (who is definetly "washed up")...

Couture is small for the class he fights... he is a good wrestler... LESNAR is a great wrestler who is much much stronger then Couture, much much quicker than Couture.. and will most likely go to decision w/ Lesnar FTW...

BTW all you idiots who think its about earning your shot to fight... bla bla bla... it's all about the $$$$$ :shaking:

Anyone who says Lesnar can't fight... I mean come on... he hasn't learned the submission aspect of the game yet... but his wrestling is excellent... and not WWE crap.. I mean anyone w/ a college record of 106-5 is pretty freaking good...

EDIT: I believe Couture got upset and left the UFC... turning in his title... NOG is the champ w/ like a interim title or some crap...

I see your point about the last five fights deal. And agree. Lesnar is a great wrestler, I would just to see him do more ground and pound when he gets the guy down instead of just laying across their back and throwing half ass punches to the side of the head like in the Heath Herring fight. I know Couture had contract disputes with UFC and figured his title would have been revoked once he left or held out or whatever it was he was doing. But even if Nog. is an interim title holder, wouldnt Randy have to defeat him in order to regain and defend it or does it just automaticall become Randy's title once he returns? Doesnt make to much sense. Im not saying Lesnar cant fight, but the last time I checked collegiate wrestlers werent throwing punches, knees, elbows, or trying to rip off a leg, or choking you unconscious, as stated earlier, yeah hes a great wrestler, just want to see more from him once the fight goes to the ground.
