As some of you already know. My wife and I have a 23 month old daughter named Andi, well 2 months ago today she gave birth to a pair of identical twin girls named Jemma Rose 6lb. 5oz and Booke Bailey 6lb. 7oz. Sooo needless to say my life has become even more busy these days! They were born on October 14th in the morning via C section. When they came out everything seemed fine at first but within 15 minutes of me holding them while the wife was fixed up the nurses noticed that they were both loosing a little color due to a lack of oxygen. At that point they hauled them off to the nicu for test. After a few hours of waiting we were told that their lungs were underdeveloped and that they would need oxygen for a few days to build up the surfactant in their lungs. Jemma ended up needing oxygen for 8 days and I believe Brooke needed 18 days. Believe me when I say that this was an extremely hard couple of week for us, especially my wife who was having to go return to the hospital twice a day everyday for the time.

The twins two month birthday was today and other than crying all the time and a lack of sleep on our part everyone is well and getting back to normal finally.

Only minutes old...

And this was the scene most days in the nicu. we weren't really able to hold them for the first week or more because making them cry would shorten their breath and lower their oxygen level.

First time together in the same bed just before Jemma was able to come home.

And now they're home and have taken over my favorite recliner!
