I just recently bought a 03 tacoma and I've been debating what size lift to put on it. I live in northeastern NC. it's pretty much flatland so I really have nowhere to climb. The only thing I do is go mudding with friends through and around swampland so can anyone give me any pointers on what size lift to get? Alot of my friends have big lifts on their trucks and tell me to put a pretty big lift on mine. The thing is I just want to put a reasonable size on mine not more than I need because it's pretty much my everyday truck.

anytime you change or alter the vehicle from stock its gonna change the way it rides. typically the more its lifted the more it rides like :poop: if your just trying to clear a little bit bigger tire you can always do a body lift. it doesnt change as much as the other options do as far as ride comfort. and its cheap.

run 32 inch of lift and 66 inch agg tires! :p

That's why I don't want to lift it more than I need to. I've been thinking either a 2 or 3 inch body lift.

Stay away from body lifts. Just sayin.

I have an "02" tacoma trd, doublecab.
I have the toytec "ole man emu" 881 coils up front with stock tokico shocks and toytecs AAL and pro comp shocks in the rear.
This levels my toyota with about 2.75 inches of lift and I run 33 in bfg at ko's with virtually no rubbing and the truck rides very nice.
Not like a cadilac but like a truck should.

You can also get some billstein 5100 shocks for the front which provides about 2.75 inches of lift and a good quality leaf pack for the rear like a deavers with the 5100 series shocks in the rear.
Check out downsouth motorsports for the 5100's.

You will of course need to have your truck alligned afterwards and have no problems being within spec.
Hope that helped.

i started with a 3" body lift and 33s and couldn't have been happier. it wasn't till i started messing with the suspension that i really had to start putting regularly scheduled wrench time into the vehicle. the body lift...once installed....allowed for the tire and wheel combo i wanted to run and the stock suspension handled just fine. i know some are not fans of body lifts, but i swear i've not had one problem with that lift since install.

I went with Daystar's 2.5" lift with spacers up front & shackles on the back on my '04 regular cab tacoma with some 32s & its my DD. After a year when the rearend was saggin about 2"(only 1" at first then I found a free 31x10 spare & shoved it under the bed of the truck & it dropped it another inch) I threw on some OME Dakar lift springs & took off the Daystar shackle to level it back out. Over a year of the spacers & haven't had any steering issues.

MUDDIN' thats what it says in your post, right? Go with a body lift, not only do you save money and time but you can add suspension later if you like and it's a bit easier to wash under your truck.
