Lincoln locker or not

I am about to swap the 12 bolt in the rear of my scout for a 14 bolt.semi-float. The new axle has 4.10s in it. I'm regearing the front 44 as well as putting in an Aussie Locker. I don't want the rear open but don't have the funds to go with anything but welding it up. The truck sees more street than it does trail time. Should I weld it up or just leave it open? Tire wear is really not an issue. Thanks -Mike

I'm curious how tire wear isnt an issue.
I don't like driving my welded-rear XJ on the street because it is noisy as all hell, chirping and barking driving thru parking lots and gas stations.

My welded rear (2nd in 9 years now) only occasionally barks on the asphalt, which I attribute to the wheelbase (105") or maybe the 10 y/o Swampers are so freakin hard they have little grip?

Where my brothers spooled CJ/same size Swampers barks anytime past a 5* change in direction ...

With your longer WB, the only downside is tire wear.

I rarely drive it, maybe once every two weeks or so and usually not too far. Maybe 10 miles or so, so tire wear is not a major issue to me

I ran mine welded for years, now it has a spool. I wouldn't have it any other way, but it isnt a DD.

I'd weld it if you drive it that infrequently.

Lincoln locker all the way!

I would weld the pinion/ring gear. It acts more like a ox locker.
