Little timing advise

95 suburban 5.7 TBI. After full tune up, bored TB, spacer, rebuilt the throttle body ran good but still seemed little off.
Today checked timing, was at zero. Figured I would advance it a bit more aggressive, set it to 6. Drives much better. Highway doesn't downshift nearly as much, and no more check engine light (always came on after few miles for EGR valve and stayed on, now stays off)!!

So should I keep it at 6 ...advance a little more?? Or stay at current setting...any advise?? Thanks
Happy father's day to all!!!!

Has the injectors spacer and free flowing exhaust too. That's about it for any "mods"

If I'm not mistaken those supposed to be set at zero because the ecu takes care of timing.

I knew that, from asome research lot of guys go as far as 10/12 for more aggressive timing along with few mods.

1. Set parking brake. Block drive wheels. Place transmission in Neutral or Park. Warm engine to operating temperature. Turn A/C off (if equipped). Ensure Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) is not on.
2. Disconnect Electronic Spark Timing (EST) by-pass connector (Tan/Black wire) which is located near distributor or in cab behind glove box. DO NOT disconnect 4-wire connector at distributor.
3. Connect timing light to No. 1 spark plugwire. Check timing and adjust if necessary. Reconnect EST by-pass connector. Clear DTC.
