Just wondering, with the recent clunkers deals, do they have a better inventory of Jeep ZJs (93-98). Last time I was there they had just 1 with just enough parts to return my $2 entry.

Of course, even the guys working there don't know what's on the lot.

Clayton/Raleigh location

Why would they have a better inventory? All the C4C vehicle have to be crushed, they can't sell the whole thing, or even teh drivetrain or frame.

The LKQ in Charleston has a lot full of Jeeps from C4C. They do not HAVE to be crushed, they just have to have their engines blown. I've seen people buying xfer cases, transmissions and axles out of C4C vehicles there.

Wasn't aware they had to be crushed -thx
I heard they only had to disable the tranny & motor with some seizing fluid. Wonder why this fluid was required if they were to be crushed anyway?

edit: excerpt from a WRAL story about LKQ.
Smith’s scrap yard is one of the beneficiaries of the government’s popular trade-in program that gives consumers up to $4,500 in federal subsidies if they trade in their cars for new, more energy-efficient models.

Under the rules of the program, car dealers must disable the engines of the “clunkers” so they can not be driven again. All of the other parts are fair game. Everything from car mirrors, to car seats, even entire pickup truck beds can be re-sold and re-used.

I haven't heard this...like the news article states, the engine is destroyed and then the vehicles have a certain amount of time to be parted out before being crushed.

There are about 1000 c4c vehicles at DH griffin in gboro. They said they have 6 months to sell parts off them before the have to crush them.

They have PLENTY of xj/zj/wj, blazers, and explorers

How is their pricing, Jim?

Are they reasonable/fair market value...or better yet, is it like yardsale pricing?

One of my buddies has been going to lkq and buying everything he can off of some really nice tj's. He said they would sell him anything except the frame and motor.

Around here it's the same price as they always charge.None of the yards in the town I live in are takin them.I was told theyre's a ton of paperwrok involved.I halued off two junkers this week to the next county and they were haulin them in straight from the dealer, pullin the cat's and alum wheels, and feedin them straight into the shredder.Saw a nice V8 Grand get shredded.

YES, They have a bunch of XJs, YJs, a couple TJs and several ZJs. Alot more waiting for the numbers to clear.
I have been going twice a week for a couple of weeks. AWESOME
