Where can you get replacement spring kits for lock rights nowadays?

On a related note... is there any reason why a lock right would click louder turning right than when turning left?

I bet Andy could them for you.

As for the clicking, thats what mine did. It was super loud turning right yet barely audible when turning left. I don't know why, but apparently its normal.

Did yours ever feel like it's binding up when you have the wheels turned all the way left/right in reverse (when on pavement)? My previous lockright never did this. This is why I'm asking about the springs as well... thinking that they may just be warn out, but I can't figure out why it's worse in reverse than going forward.

my lockright is worse turning left than right lol.

When I installed my lockright the first time many many moons ago it acted like a spool rather than a locker. It vitually never unlocked, ever. It was a bitch to turn in parking lots.

It eventually broke the pins and I got some replacements sent to me free from Powertrax. I had to pull it to replace the pins, but you may not have to. When I took it out, I realized that when I did the original install I did not reinstall the little washers that go between the lock right and carrier. Ooops. I think that was my problem because it never broke again and actually unlocked from then on when it was supposed to.

Not sure if that has anything to do with your situation, just my experience.

I take it when you pulled it, the only thing you had to watch out for were the shims right? Otherwise, it should come apart and go back together fairly self explanatory right?

I didn't have to fool with the shims on my Dana axles, but I'm not familiar with what kind of axles you are running. IF you have to pull the carrier to clear the cross pin, just be sure to put the bearing caps back on the same side they came off. Hopefully your shims are on the inside of the bearings (between the bearings and carrier)?

The only catch I had was that when I broke the pins I warped the holes that the pins go into and had to drill them out a tiny little bit to the the new ones in.

Oh and I use a metal coat hanger to help me press in the springs. Those little boogers like to go airborne!

Good deal. I've got a Toyota Taco rear axle. I did just order a new spring and pin kit from Summit, so I hope new springs will do the trick, because the noise is making me cringe every time it gives a loud pop. Guess it's time to pull the 3rd again.

Hey John, Bruce told me when I replaced the pins and springs in mine to take the locker out and file the teeth somewhat then put the gears back in on the opposite side they came out. I ended up doing it to mine and it made a difference on the clicking espeically being it had almost 300k on it and mine was the 3rd truck the unit was in. He also mentioned getting a 2nd set of spider gear thrust washers and putting into place but I never did that.

Well I finally broke the differential down again today to figure out what the issue was. And sure enough once I got everything apart, the lock right had a broken pin. The springs were just fine, but one of the pins was cracked in half. Yeah that would explain the "POP, BOOM, CRACK, POW" sounds coming from my rear end. I ended up putting in new pins and springs (and found out how to put a lock right in) so she's good as new. What a difference too, it's even more quiet than my previous lock right. Such a relief to my ears... and I can turn again!!
