i want to get a long slip yoke driveshaft for my 85 toyota 4cyl. marlin cawler and trailgear make kits... does anyone make a cheaper one ? also does anyone know a driveshaft shop worth a crap in asheville ?

Not sure about local stuff in Asheville, but I've heard great stuff about Carolina Driveline. They're in Spartanburg, SC and he does same day shipping. A few guys on another forum have had great success with his stuff and it's BEEF!

On a front shaft it doesn't matter if you drive it every day cause it only turns in 4wd anyway. That is unless you have flanges instead of hubs.

Mine is my dd all the time like said only turns in 4x4 .I have run it in in 4high up to 50 without vibes just to see. I couldn't justify almost 200 bucks when the square shaft works great.

can you post some pics of your setup... is it just a small square tube inside a bigger one ? do you have grease fittings on it ? sorry for the newb questions lol

I'm actually running a pto style shaft not the square tube in the square tube. The PTO shafts are cheap and really strong. They can be balanced if you need it. Aville pwr train can build you most anything you need but it will cost you a fortune if they build it from scratch, ask for Robert if you call up there. Fleet Pride can't do yota shafts and their pretty costly on the spicer stuff and balance to. Those are the only two in Aville I know of. Hareball here in Fletcher can build you one like mine out of thick wall DOM or reuse a donor shaft to save cost, with the pto slip setup, he just can't balance it. Carolina driveline does great work too.

If you get me the fixed yoke and slip yoke I can build one with thick wall tubing( 3/16 or thicker) for way cheaper than any drive line shop. PM if interested.

how do you keep the yokes inline with each other when you weld the box steel to them?

I was talking about putting your yokes on some heavy wall round tubing, but I can do square too if you want. The square tube is fine for the woods but you will have major vibes at speed as the tube is not a tight fit. You can shim it to a point but.....
