Just looking for info on a 91 4Runner. Any good websites? Is the 2.4 116HP a total dog? I found a 91 with a SALVAGED TITLE. Never fixed but bought back from bank and has been used as a daily driver without repairing it so its not that bad. Needs new bumper and all brackets, grill and left hand side body pannel. Pannel is probably fixable its just bowed out and and pait chipped and rusted. Figure could get everthing to fix for no more than $400 doing it myself. Its a gold 5 speed 154k miles 4x4 aftermarket rims about a year left of 31's new pioneer CD player. Its $1500 OBO thinking about offering $1200 or $1300 Also would be replacing a 86 camry so could prob sell it for $500 meaning I would be upgrading with a $800 or so investment. Also have a 98 K1500 and a company van so I dont drive these vehicles often.

Sounds like a good deal to me, Go to www.partstrain.com for the bumper parts, might even be able to get the fender there too for pretty cheap. Especially if you don't drive them every day. The motor will prabably be a little under powered, but it'll be reliable. Just check for rust on the major structural parts.

Here is the dammage

The 22RE was only in the third Gen 4Runners for a couple of years. At aprox. 115hp from the factory....it is going to be kinda slow hauling the the heavier body around.....but the 22r seires motors are strong and reliable. Put a new timing chain on it with metal guides, and it will be good for another 100K as long as it was taken care of.

In my opinion...the 4 popper is a lot easier to work on....it has the drivetrain (gear driven t-cases) that you want to put dual cases in. Should make for a good begin wheeling/DD vehicle. There are lots of mods you can do that will raise the hp slightly....some are over priced for the amount of power gain....but you can research that later.
