Maybe my google-fu is failing me or maybe these things don't exist & we could make 10s of doll-hairs inventing them and selling them to the 4-5 people that may have the same need!

#1) We've got a guy out at work on medical leave and I'd like to get some of his to-do list done before he gets back next month. At one of our sites we have 4 gates (2 drive & 2 person) and one of the contact switches is no longer responding because the wiring failed. Instead of chasing the 600' of wire in conduit to repair or replacing the entire run I'd like to upgrade to a wireless contact switch at the gate and have the receiver wired into our SCADA system which is ~300' away. Everything I've been able to find is for a wired system or doesn't transmit that far. If a wireless solution exists, it would need to be powered via DC source since we do not want to tie into the gate motor.

#2) Since I've moved into my grandpa's house, I've been doing minor remodeling/updating things and bringing stuff into the 21st century. The house has 2 heat sources (gas pack & water stove/boiler) and I've got both systems upgraded with smart thermostats. I'd like to reduce the trips outside to check the water temp if possible and get a sensor with a display inside the house (to put below the thermostats) that also connects to WiFi for remote monitoring. The thermostats are ~70' away from the boiler, but if the display is wired the cable would need to be ~100' long. There is no way to control the draft remotely without major modifications. I'd just like to be able to monitor the water temp and call the neighbors to add wood or switch to the gas pack remotely.

Thanks,
Brandon

If you used Honeywell stats then they make several wireless temp monitoring solutions. If you didn't use Honeywell then replace what you have anyway because the other options for smart thermostats are no good.

You need more info about the gate, they just use keyed locks or keypads and the contact switch is just monitoring open or closed status? There's no RFID or anything?

#2. Just put a wifi camera in front of the temp guage and monitor that.
I didn't put this in the post, but I have a blink camera facing the temp gauge...its just not the greatest in low light conditions. I'm hoping whatever I find will have alarm limits (like a water heater or grill monitor) for over/under temp alarms to push to my phone.

#2, what about something like this: ThermaData® WiFi Thermocouple Logger (2 channel, Type T) (DDL). Doesnt give you wall display but is on the cloud.
That could possibly work with a long enough cable on the thermocouple. I'd just need a thermowell or similar to thread into the pipe fitting for the thermocouple to sit in.

I used ecobee3 lites. Not great by any measure except for one...they were free. I'll look into the Honeywell systems.

The walk gates & rear drive gate have keyed locks on them and the main drive gate has a keypad and a garage door opener (no RFID). These contacts just monitor which gates are open/closed and are wired into a RTAC that also brings back some alarm contacts for a couple other systems.
