As the tittle states, I'm looking for directions and some basic info on this trail. Is it a loop? Is it private property or public land?

Thanks in advance.

as of now its just a standard dirt road between Blowing Rock and the outskirts of Lenoir. Used to use it a lot when they would close 321. The views are decent, and there is a nice older cemetery to check out for some history of the area.

Gottcha, so now it's just a dirt road? looked like some realyt good wheelin. What's the name of the road?

Actually, according to the map from the Forest service, you start out on private property, and about 1/10 mile in you are on Nation Forset property. That's why they were giving out tickets

Last time I was there we spoke to a officer and I promised I'd never come back, Later I heard of some friends getting tickets. Maybe 04 - 05. Yes the trail cuts through private property.

Thanks alot for the clarification. That thread was a good read.

Any idea on why they actually closed the trail all of a sudden?

Thats what I was getting at....the trail is closed, the road is still open, so that is all there is to see there.

In fact, last time I was there I couldn't really tell where the trail began. It looked like it was off to the side blocked by some huge concrete highway median things.

Yep, some of the Wat Co locals have gotten trespassing tickets there... don't try it. Go to mountain city if you want to wheel in the Boone area.

Sooo many memories from this trail. I may cry.

Broke my first Birfield here. Stock coarse spline Early Model Land Cruiser birf.

I christened many a rocker panel on "The Rock"

Met some guys coming out of there once, in a stock IFS Yota, and they said "Its a fun trail, but it ends at this big rock"

And of course, The "X Hills" is what we called them. I used to let that 350 eat in my first Land Cruiser going up those hills.
