I'm in my early sixties, my wife is a few years younger. We enjoy the camping trips, sitting around a fire on a brisk evening, and the camaraderie in general. We also enjoy 4-Wheeling, but we're getting tired of the 5-6 hour drives (one way), and the hard-core (more like work) obstacle-oriented rides that seem to be the norm these days. We're not ready to throw in the towel and give it up just yet, but we would like to tone it down some and stick more to the places that are a bit closer to us and actually have some trail other than just jumping from one obstacle to the next. For reference, we're located near Rockwell and a 3-hour drive is about the maximum that we consider to be within a reasonable distance. We enjoy the company of you younger folks and a lot of you have known us for years, but we also enjoy spending time with some folks nearer to our own age-group now and then. I'll probably get b-o-o-o-ed by some of my hard-core friends, but I want to go riding a little more often and work a little bit less. If there are any older folks out there who can relate to what I have written we would like to meet you sometime. Also, if some of you younger folks are leaning more to the milder stuff, we wouldn't mind joining up with you on a trip sometime. Finally, drugs, drunkenness, profanity, and general bad behavior don't work for us, so I guess we also have some limitations, or faults depending upon how you look at it.

Don, as one of your "hardcore friends" I will have to say you have to do what you enjoy doing. Best of luck in your quest!

As a reference to anyone wondering about this couple, none better to be found!

Appreciate the compliment, Chip. Thank You!

Be assured we're not giving you guys up, we would just like to slow things down a bit. :)

I'm with Don. The older you get -- and the more you beat yourself up, the more fun and satisfaction you find in the simple things. A day spent riding a plain old woods road can be pretty relaxing, and fun too. Riding is fun. Driving for 15 minutes and then watching your group play on one obstacle for three hours isn't that much fun anymore. My wife's tolerance for that is a bit less than mine.

Count us in. I'll send you a PM on a trip we got coming up that you might find interesting.

BTW, Don...about three years ago, I bought a T18a and twinstick 20 from you for my CJ5. Still running great.

lol, at first thats where i thought this was going!
whats wrong with URE?

Last first: For me and my wife, nothing is wrong with Uwharrie... We like Uwharrie and always have a good time when we go there.

As for the comment regarding Craig's List, I'm really having a hard time understanding why that comment was even made.

Don,

Let us know when you want to head out. Since I sold the CJ7 a few years ago (not sure if you remember the brown renegade that was over at Brian Sebastian's way back when) I have a TJ for a daily driver now. Since its my only transportation, hard core stuff just doesnt happen much anymore. We live out toward Spencer.

We have alot of fun poking at craigslist personal ads. I dont think any ill intention was meant.

Chris,
I'm putting ole Granny back together after replacing a complete rear axle and repairing some other damage from my last trip. I hope to attend the Toy Run at Callalantee (Mountain City, TN) on August 8th, and there's plenty of stuff there that you could do with a stock vehicle if you're interested. If not, we will get together sometime and do a weekend at Uwharrie. It would be great to see some of you folks that I haven't seen for ages!

Would love to go on the 8th, but we promised to take our daughter to the beach for her 11th birthday. Let us know when you head down to Uwharrie next time, and we will plan on it.

Sounds like you need to try craigslist personal ads

Only JC would hit me with something I am totally ignorant about! :shaking:

I still don't understand the whole craigslist thing, but I think I am beginning to catch on. I'll get ya back, ya ole goat!

If I still have my Jeep then (almost a 100% chance I will), Id love to tag along with someone who isnt into the hardcore stuff! Without a full roll cage, and using my Jeep as a DD, Im always sketched out about the bigger stuff.

Your only an hour and a half from me, my parents are in their early 60s (turned 60 this year..guess thats early haha). When me and my sister are gone from home, I know they get bored. Might be a fun thing for them to go out with new friends.

Me? Too young for you guys to hang out with . Drunkness and profanity are all a 21 year old knows!

BUT, I never drink on the trail so for the Toys for Rocks, I'll definetly hit the trails with you guys!

Don, I'm in for a fun camping type weekend anytime.. Hell if there is enough interest at anyone time, it might be cheaper to rent one of the group sites.

To Macdaddy4738, you would be welcome to tag along with us any time. And... you're dead wrong about the 21 year olds. We know a lot of young folks that we would welcome any time. Don't take us wrong, we're not puritans, I have been know to cut loose my self now and then, but f--- this and f--- that every other word will quickly get most anyone escorted away from my campsite.

To Mike, that's a great idea! I'll probably be seeing you in September and we will talk about it. Darlene and I have already decided that as soon as the weather cools down we WILL be doing some weekend camping and trail riding at Uwharrie. Uwharrie, in my opinion, still has the best camping facilities of all the OHV spots.

To that I will add, you are also married to a real lady, Mrs Darlene deserves better than that type of language

The wife and daughter have a long weekend Sept 25 - it should be cooled off by then...sounds like a good Uwharrie weekend.

Are you saying that you cant control your language?
Are you saying that you cant see the benefit in being respectful to yourself, by being respectful to others.

Sure theres a time and place to act like a sailor,if you choose, thats easy...I guess the hard part for some, is knowing when acting like an idiot is not welcomed.

He's afraid of the beat down Don would give him for all the shit talking !! :flipoff2: that's what I think !!.

Mike, don't you be gettin' some big dude all stirred up and ready to whip me. Darlene doesn't fight as well as she used to!

Fear not my friend, your only issue would being able to see through the crowd , that'd have your back!

Don, is that why you dont hang around me long? Just Kidding I am another one that likes the easy stuff I hate spending money on fixing what i break for being "brain dead" at that instant. I like uwharrie and we will be camping there more often
when it cools down. Just post up when you want to go and we can get a group together.
