Lower Steering Column Bearing CJ or even YJ

Does the lower Steering column bearing snap/press into the Plastic Adapter ring?

Tore down my column and I dont recall it being snapped into it, but it doesn't make sence for it not to be. this actually leads me to believe that mine wasn't and was part of my steering issue.

it snaps into the plastic ring. i ordered a new bearing and adapter ring, but couldn't press the bearing into the new ring w/o feeling like it was going to damage the bearing, so i just reused the older adapter ring. it did help my steering, too...

cool, second confirmation I've had on this, and first confirmation on feeling like I'm gonna break the damn thing.
