They just replaced the lp tanks at work and I can get 8 tanks in a deal I think(here is the question)Whats an lp tank worth after the date has ran out? I think we can't use them at work because of the manufacture date. Is there any issues with filling them because of that date?

Come on surely someone has bought or used a lp tank off a forklift. I was thinking of just using 1 as an air tank.

All 8 are steel. I just looked at them and saw 1 date from 97 and 1 from 2000. The tanks look ok but could use a coat of paint. I didn't see any dents only marks where the straps held them in place on the lifts.

I have 8 aluminum tanks. I usually load them all up and get them filled all at once. I've never seen the guy check the dates.

Technically, they are supposed to be hydro'd/tested every few years. In reality, I feel it's more adhered to in an OSHA environment.

Thats what I was told about OSHA. I guess it is cheaper and less trouble to get a tank exchange. So what are they worth and would they make a good air tank?
