Lunchbox lockers on both ends?

i hate to hijack the locker thread so I’ll start another one. I have an Aussie in the back of the WJ. This thing is budget, so I’m not putting a selectable up front but I’m thinking about another Aussie up front. I’m hearing mixed reviews about this setup. Some on here in discussion have said it would be ok but just have to get used to the way it drives. Others have said the front and rear will fight each other. I’m not sure I understand that but I can see how it might be a little goofy feeling.

I know a selectable would be better, but has anyone run this setup? Opinions? Experience?

I’ve never had anything but lunchbox lockers at both ends. Zero complaints whatsoever. Obviously selectable would be better, but for the money I’ve been very pleased.

They’re noisy, but I never roads in a Jeep that wasn’t noisy, lockers or not.

Finally. Somebody that’ll tell me what I want to hear! You da man.

I’ll have the little d30 locked before the fun caravan.

Throw a Spartan in it and don’t look back. Have one shipped over to the shop and we can knock it out quick!

You'll be fine.
I run Detroit rear and Grizzly front in my DD XJ. Sometimes you make people go WTF when you pull into parking spaces.

I might do that. My work travel schedule ain’t looking good for the next couple of weeks.

But why a Spartan over an Aussie?! Just kidding. Wrong thread.

People look at me funny already with that Aussie in the back. Might as well make the front click too.
Thanks

I have a lock rite front and Aussie rear in my 02 TJ 5spd. It gets a little bound up off road on really grippy rocks and makes it a little harder to turn but that's it. I usually slap it back to 2wd to get the front unlocked to turn tighter and that's all that's needed usually.
Auto locker is only annoying in the rear on the streets with a 5speed, have to learn new way to drive around parking lots to keep it from jerking the jeep like a newb driving a stick. But you won't have that problem in a auto WJ

I have run aussies in the front and rear of my ZJ and TJ, no problems

I ran Spartans F&R in my S10. Zero complaints. Worked great on the trails. Unlocked the hubs for the 2ish miles it ever saw pavement. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

That's half the satisfaction! Chirping tires at 2 mph. :D

My wj has a spartan in the front. I would definitely recommend it. Invisible in 2wd, it won’t steer as well in 4wd but it’s a very minor inconvenience. you can either drive accordingly, or pop it back into 2wd. You won’t have any conflicts with the rear. I’m thinking about bringing my wj to uwharrie this weekend if you want to check it out

Dad has LOKKAs in both ends of his TJ. If the front is installed correctly you shouldn't know it's there in 2wd except for the clicking.

The only thing I will add is I had no issues with auto lockers in the rear of auto transmission ZJs... now when I went to a manual TJ with an auto locker in the rear, that power shift from 1st to 2nd can get you a bit off course haha

Lockright f/r in my YJ, Detroit f/r in my TJ, no issues with either. I've never had good luck with selectable lockers, so I stick with auto lockers now.

Thanks for the feedback everybody. Certainly sounds like the route I'm taking. A locker is on the way.

I forgot about that. I remember him telling me "keep that wj low, 33's, and LOKKAs, and you'll be good to go". Did he ever get rid of Tigger?

No, still here... He's the only one with a wheelable rig right now and he has 3.

I've got detroit in rear, & at 1 time had the front welded. Welding front is a No No! I learned. Then I went to lock right in front. I could turn it, but was harder, & couldn't get full lock, on dry ground. E-Locker fixed that! My 2 cents, with a front locker, you need aftermarket steering or at least the Pump. My stock CJ steering didn't like it! Looks like your running a longer wheelbase, & that will Help you getting it turned!

Thanks. That’ll be on the list for the next thing I kill.:D
