Well my name is Jack Ward and I just purchased my first deuce and a half 6x6 truck. It is a 1971 model with a White multi fuel motor and the whistler C turbo. I have a long list of restorations projects and modification projects that I will be doing and I'll be hopefully writing them all up here. I live in Raleigh near NCSU and I work in Cary and I drive this thing a good bit so you might catch a glimpse of me slowly lumbering around the city sometime. Right now this truck has been mostly used at just that a truck. I have been just hauling fire wood and things like that, Soon I hope to get it off road and see how well these trucks live up to their reputation off road.

I have plenty of things to fix on this truck such as the headlights being in upside down. There is a huge hole in the exhaust. Fuel gauge does not work as well as the engine coolant temp gauge. The front end pops on turns so I am going to need new leaf spring bushings for the front. I can't for the life of me figure out how I am going to lift the frame of this truck off that suspension but where there's a will there is a way right? I swear all ten tires are a different size I think so I plan on getting 6 used 47" military tires and that will improve the ride quality but that gets more into the modding section that is a whole new list on its on lol.

cribbing blocks and bottle jacks on the frame lifting! we did it on fire trucks all the time before my employer ponied up on some 80K cost lift jacks. How do you like the multi-fuel? Tried any fuel variants in it?

I see you made it home! I have heard the 46's make the trucks actually steer easier, you might think about the ~43's so you don't rob as much power from the multi fuel, but they are a little harder to find.

I think it will serve you well and hope you have fun with it.

I never noticed the headlights were in upside down, guess you figured it out driving at night?

warriorwelding thanks for the suggestion on the cribbing blocks and a bottle jack that certainly will work I believe. So far I love the multi-fuel I fun a mixture thats about 1/3 waste motor oil and power steering fluid to 2/3 diesel and I'm in the process of setting up a waste oil filtration set up out of two 55 gal drums so I hope in the future to be running more filtered waste oil in the truck.

Tacoma747 yeah man it made it home just fine! Drove like a champ I loved every min of that really long drive back to Raleigh. I'm already having a blast with it every time I drive through downtown in it I always get looks and waves. I have also used it to haul a lot of fire wood and I'm lined up to haul a few tons of mulch here soon so already it has served me well and I am having a ball in this truck especially now that I am more comfortable driving it. I've driven plenty of big truck in my life but this is just something else lol. Yeah on the headlights I noticed that the logos on the housing were upside down but I didn't pay much attention to that. Then as I was driving at night I noticed that when the high beam indicator was on the light pointed at the ground a vice versa. Should be as simple as just rotating the housing back up right and that should improve my visibility at night. One of my modification projects are some 24v truck-lite head lights for that thing make it light up the road like nothing else.
