Making blocks

This might be a stupid idea so feel free to let me know.

My brother has a crew cab dakota. He doesnt do any off roading. We ordered some aftermarket torsion bar keys for the front and an add a leaf for the rear. The add a leaf settled after a couple of weeks and looks to be back at stock height again. He wants a little more height back in the rear.
On my parents farm there is a piece of equipment we tow behind a tractor to groom the horse ring. It has very heavy duty teeth about 7" long and the exact same width as his leaf springs. They are solid steel and about 3/4" thick, they even have a hole drilled in the center.
If we get longer U bolts, can we use one of these under each spring pack? Ive never used blocks on anything, but my concern is that lift blocks might have a slight angle for keeping the drive shaft at the right angle. Is that the case?
Can anyone see any other issues using these teeth as blocks?

nah you can use it but i would get some degree shims for your pinion angle and remember youll need to drill the bottom for your center pin, also youll need to have a centerpin on the top for your springs to sit in

you can get a set of lift blocks complete with U-bolts for $30 at AZone, Advance, etc. They have a dowel pin in them, come in 1", 2", or 3". They are flat extruded/cut aluminum, no angle milled in them. I had to supply my own hardened washers so the U-bol nuts would sit flat on my slotted spring plate.
I wouldn't recommend them, they will wear round, and if pushed hard, will allow too much axle wrap. The add-a-leaf might help stiffen up the spring to control wrap.

This is all advance has and it says for coil springs.

I have made my own solid steel lift blocks with great success. I drilled a hole very slightly undersized and drove a steel dowel in there to use for a centering pin.

I made them after the aluminum ones like Renegade posted failed (nearly)catastrophically on my DD XJ.

Take that for what it is worth, but i wouldn't ever buy another set of aluminum lift blocks.

Look UNDER these. They will be in a black box. They SHOULD be on the bottom shelf.

Go to a metal shop and have them cut some flat stock the size of the spring and install it to the bottom of the spring pack with a new center pin and correct u-bolts. Basicly a spacer with no way of coming out or kicking like a block. May be a little more cash but will be 100%. Have done this alot in the past, mostly on the front axle but still works for the rear.
