Well let me begin by saying I know this belongs under another catagorie but I'm putting it here! Yesterday was the last workday of the year at URE. Cris (at the outpost) and Debra Walker and I were talking Two weeks ago and wanted to do something special for the Volunteers this past year that gave their time and effort so YOU can have some nice trails to use. We planned some things that didn't work out because of bad weather. Yes it rained, sleeted and snowed with wind and bone chilling temperatures at URE yesterday! Over 30 volunteers showed up anyway!
I PM'd Shawn (saftscissors) and asked if NC4X4 might help me out a little and the answer was YES. I explained what I would like to do for those that worked this year for free at URE. I wanted to provide them with a FREE HOT meal and he agreed this could be done!
I needed a Elf to help me pull this off on my end so I made one call to a friend of mine,Snappy didn't hesitate and said yes immediantly! Snappy and I met yesterday at the Eldarado Outpost with many others and had breakfast and proceeded to the 9:00 meeting with the Rangers,Debra,Terry,Rodney, Pete,Michelle, and another that his name escapes me at the moment. It was cold and getting worse by the hour! Snappy and I picked up two bags of trash and a tire at the double Parking lot! We did provide a hot meal for most of the group and all of them were told that NC4X4 provided the food and Snappy and myself just prepared it for them.
I want to say we're this was not announced prior to yesterday! It was done this way on purpose and agreed on. This was for the volunteers and they were surprised that it happened this way. We even had a new guy show up, Charlie. Thanks again to EVERYBODY that volunteered this past year.
Oh yeah, Some guy named Eli! He deserves a big thanks for the heat he has taken along the way for not doing things as to satisfy everybody along the way! He's a better man than me to put himself into the glass house that he's in. He got things done!
Thanks to NC4X4 for what they do for us big time!
MERRY CHRISTMAS to all involved!
