I saw a billboard for that yesterday in Garner. I LOL'd, but would be curious to try it out.

I think they are just now getting a little more popular.

I saw one the other day at.....Ingles I think (In Boone).

Although it could have been Lowes Foods OR Walmart. I cant really remember.

yeah im looking to scoop one up today for the weekend just not sure where to grab one. but im in Kannapolis so not driving to Boone, or Garner to get it. ill just stick to the trusty ole can.

16 beers for $20.
It has a little thing on the front that you twist and it releases the CO2 into the keg.
I got mine at the walmart supercenter in Belmont.

Oh my... thats so cool. I don't even like Miller Lite really, but I suppose it can't be helped

the Heineken keg is really cool too. The CO2 release is actually built in so you dont have to twist anything.

So... it's a pony keg?
Failing to see the big magical mystery here.

If I was going to spend $20 on 16 beers, I'd just get something alot better - like Rogue etc.

Probably pick up the hieni mini keg tonight, had been wanting to forever but the price is high, 14 beers for 20 bucks. If I see any of the other ones I may consider.

I bought one for the 4th and it was a major epic fail...

The CO2 cartridge leaked I guess and I was left with half of my beer stuck in the keg. Harris Teeter manager was being a super douche and didn't want to give me my money back or replacement beer. Long story short I got 2 24 packs and I don't think I am welcome in there anymore hahaha.

Overall I think it is a waste though. Maybe I just had a tainted experience.

they got these at wal mart to.... but its prob the reject kegs LOL Ill stick with my High Life in the bottle.....

i got one the co2 did the same but u can actually twist the top off and get the reest but i mean a 24pk of cans for 14 sounds alot better

These things never work if you plan to keep them for any amount of time. If you drink it all at one time it is ok, but I don't think that is the intended use of the product when people buy it. Hell, a regular keg with a pump tap will go flat by the next day.

If you want excess draft beer storage, become a homebrewer. I can keep 5 gallons of beer pressurized for months. And it costs me around $25-$35 to make 5 gal.( 55 12oz. bottles)of any type beer I want.

Moral of the story is don't waste your money on the mini kegs at the store.

I got the Coor's light one.Total waste.Even with the CO2 thing it was still flat by about half way through and we drank it all in one sitting. Also if you look at the little tab at wal mart by the price and compare the cost by ounces or whatever it's actually a lot more expensive. The only value to it was my ear to ear smile riding home from wal mart thinking about drinking it,after that, total fail.I'm still waiting to learn to brew myself!

If you're suggesting this as the "value" approach, lets tell the whole story...
that's $25-35 per batch after you spend a small fortune on the kettle, cooker, valves, regulators, piping, co2 tank, storage... not to mention the mess and work!

Kind of like "4wheeling only costs $5 for a URE pass and a half tank of gas" lol.

Of course the real "vlaue" comes in with having something YOU made and tastes waaaay better.

True, this is a one time investment for the equipt. But after that, making the beer(work) is part of the fun of homebrewing. Once you make a couple batches it's not really that messy.

So, on the value side you make a good point Ratlab.

Oh wow, had forgot all about the homebrewing. Granted I think it would be a great investment, I don't currently have a "permanent residence" where I would want to really set up shop.

Also, I was under the impression with kegs as long as you remove the tap and depressurize it it will be fine for a while?

When is the next time you are wanting to brew a batch?

excuses, excuses...I made a few batches, all when I lived in rented places. First was apts on Market St, then later in a rented house near AutoZone on Guilford College rd. The first batch was a yummy honey ale with very high alochol content. The last batch got contaminated and turned into some nasty vinegar mess...I just left my stuff @the rental house

Keep wishing... You won't find any GOOD beer for $20/16

i disagree. ingles usually has good deals on Sweetwater 12 packs for $14. They also have Magic Hat and a few others on sale.

How much space would I need to set aside to make it work? Gotta be in A/C? Where can I buy bottles/caps locally? Homebrew place?

http://homebrew-supplies.homebrewmart.com/starter-kit-1-p111.aspx

These things get expensive, thats the cheapest by far but is missing a few things. Think the Homebrew place on Guilford College would be cheaper/could hook me up with some serious know how, id rather spend a little extra and come out knowing what Im doing ya know.

Im only 21 so my experience with beer is mostly the crappy domestics, some magic hat # 9, sam adams variety packs, dos equis (Current favorite, Rio Grande does $1 16 oz and $2 32 oz every night) and a few random pale ales I wasn't actually too fond of. I am willing to try, but really don't want to make a huge mess.

Also, I read that the Dos Equis (Amber) is somewhat of a lager making a "clone" difficult to brew.

all you need is a bucket with a lid to do your primary fermentation. drill a hole in top, insert grommet and put on airlock. simple. they usually sell the whole set up at a brew store.

next you'll need to get bottles (save what you drink, pry off only), caps and a capper or go grolsh style bottles but you'll have to buy them and forget capping the old way. also you'll need 1 long piece of 3/8" hose. the rest is ingredients.

some will say I'm wrong but that's a bare bones operation. you can get fancier and get bottling wands, racking canes, auto-siphons, etc.

I'd suggest a good wheat beer to start. they're easy and take minmal effort.
