In the market for a new welder. Need opinions on Millermatic 210 vs. the Millermatic 251. Both are in my range, both sized for my needs. Want to go blue due to previous good experiences, but will listen to other recommendations.

I've got a 210 and it is awesome. I love it and it handles 3/8" single pass. The 251 just being the larger machine. Im sure it is a great machine too.

I have a 210, no complaints. Biggest advantage to the 251 is infinite voltage adjustment, not just 6 settings, I have never used a machine like this so I don't know how big of a deal that is. I have read that the fan does not run all the time either, mine does.

If price is the deciding factor, check Cyberweld.com

currently the 251 is ~$80 cheaper

infinite voltage adjustment is a really nice feature, especially if you ever decide to upgrade to a spool gun and weld aluminum.

I just finished running a 251 all day today at about 320 amps. I definitely prefer Miller over the Lincolns I am used to running. I also like the adjustments on the 251 better than the 210.

I have a 251 and like it alot. The only thing I don't like is it is hard to remember what settings are 'good' for certain thickness materials. I guess I need to write it down. It gives suggestions under the flap, but those are just that, suggestions.

The infinite adjustability would help alot with welding aluminum, and is nice on steel, but not as 'needed'.

My current Century is infinate -- and that's the primary reason I'm considering the 251. Lots of times I've just tweeked the dial a half point or so to fine-tune.

I'll check them out....ever ordered from them before?

A given piece of metal will respond differently based on ambient temperature, humidity, moon phase, and a million other variables (well, maybe not the moon). What setting is dead on one day may only be close on another day.

Thanks for the responses so far!!

I have not ordered from them before, but others I know have, and have had excellent service from them.

When I am ready I will order a Bobcat 250 engine driven welder, I would like to have the generator ability ( 10k watts) and the welding capability. ( power goes out here quite a bit, some times for hours )
