I bought a daily driver and the jeep cherokee has become the "toy." It would only be driven on randomly and to and from Uwharrie. Currently have an 8.8 in the rear and a aussie locker in the front. I know detroits and arbs are the best, just dont wanna spend too much. I was wondering peoples opinions on them.

Thanks

Daily drove a ZJ with a mini spool in an 8.8 for two years. Only down side is tire wear, and the noise the tires make during a sharp slow turn in a parking lot.

Feels way more stable and predictable on road than a lunchbox locker.

Had one in the TJ buggy on 42s. 14 bolt 300m mini spool.
I never knew it was back there until I wanted it to be. :driver:

I wouldn't say it's much faster, but some. My right foot and smoking the 35's on pavement had more to do with the tire wear. mud tires don't exactly set the standard for long life. Oh, i had BFG Mud terrain, the old stlye

only downside with the mini-spool is the cross pins break easy on the smaller axles (8.8, 9", etc...)

Depends on how much time you spend going straight. Every curved section of road increases tire wear with a spool.

The trick is, whenever you do have to make an abrupt turn, you gotta swing all the way into the ditch first. Then all the neighbors will look at you like "what the hell is this clown doing?" Works on 39.5s. Lol
