well my two labs went missing yesterday morning,i'd let one out to pee and he did what he was supposed to and started back to the house and a damn rabbit runs by and he's in hot pursuit,so i go to get my shower and thinking i'll start looking for him once i get out(he normally comes back when he runs off),well i hear my other lab bark and i think well he's outside on the deck waiting,so i rinse off and get out the shower and damn if he didnt push the back door open and now both are gone,i started at 6:00 am yesterday and finished up around 8:00 lastnite and still havent found them,i put over 80 miles on the tj within a 3 mile radius so it seems i searched everywhere, well wish me luck,i'm putting out fliers today after work with a reward so maybe someone will call

I am in the same boat at the moment. be sure to post it up on craigslist lost and found with a pic

call the pound to to start with.

that was the 1st thing i did once they opened up and i'm on my way right now to the pound to see if they were picked up,craigslist,i didnt even think of that

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM,MY DOG WENT MISSING ON TRAIL 12 IN TELLICO. BACK DOWN AT PARKING LOT MY DOG WAS IN THE BACK OF A TRUCK,THEY WERE GOING TO USE HIM AS A BAIT DOG FOR FIGHTING,AND AFTER SOME INTIMADATION I GOT MY DOG BACK. SO BE CAREFULL IN THE WOODS WITH DOGS, HOPE YOU FIND THEM

Sorry to hear that.. but that is the exact reason I fenced in my entire backyard..

My wife would kill me if my dogs got out and never came back

Hope ya get them back soon.. :(

Nash, are you saying they actually told you "yeah, we're going to use your dog as a bait dog"?

i've been wanting to fence in the back yard, but it pretty big and i just havent had the money to do it yet, plus i just got this house in november,i should have got a litle extra on the loan and went ahead and put one up,but good news is i just got back from animal control and they got one of them,he was picked up this morning about 2 miles from my house, and it only cost me 40.00 to get him back,so 1 down, 1 to go

Invisible fence!
If you take the time to train them to it, they work great. You may have to upgrade to a "stubborn Dog Collar"
It's all in the training and time spent. Much less than a fence.

good luck. 4 years ago both of my labs got out and were missing for 4 days. I found one and still look for the other one every day I drive down the road where I used to live in hopes I'll see him wandering around...

YEAH SOMEONE TOLD ME TO TRY THAT,I WAS JUST WORRIED WITH THE DOGS BEING SO HYPER THAT IT JUST MAKE THEM THAT MORE HYPER ONCE THEY GOT SHOCKED,MY BUDDY HAS A 75LB AM-STAFF AND HE JUST STICKS HIS HEAD OVER THE FENCE TO GET A JOLT,NO SHIT HE'LL HOLD HIS HEAD OVER THE BORDER FOR A MINUTE OR SO AND THEN BACK UP LIKE NOTHING EVER HAPPENED

Here's how it works. First there is an audible, kinda a warning, then a shock. Semi is 120lbs, she would shake a little and keep going over, a little less with the stubborn unit, we finally used two stubborn collars and she stopped. She wouldn't even go to Leslie when she called. after a while, we went back to the regular collar. Like I said, it's all in the training. well, and of corse the set up.
It will work.

don't call... go

I called the pound for about 6 days, every day looking for my dalmation.... Everyday they said there was no dalmation. I went up there because I just felt like he was there , sure enough he was (been there for 5 days) They claimed they thought it was a Pit because it was short with muscles and planning on putting him down

well good news this morning,i got up around 2:30 this morning to let my am-staff out and still no lab,i got back up around 5:45 to go out looking and damn if he wasnt laying on the deck asleep,so i got both of them back,i dont have kids ,so my dogs are like my kids and i'm happy as hell to have 'em back:bounce2:

Oh and another vote for the Invisible fence. Actually, if you're interested, I have one, all you need is to install it, or have someone install it for you.

ONLY DOWNSIDE they do keep your animals in, but they don't keep other animals out.

PM me if interested.

GREAT news Tuck... good to know he'll wander back, too..

now you can breathe a sigh of relief and have a

(I hear ya on the pets being "the kids")

hell yeah got the  iced down this morning before i went to work, the cooler is beside the cj in the garage

I will be more and likely be buying a invisable fence set up from MBALBRITTON,so hopefully this wont be happening anymore

What's that the hippies use to say , set something free ,if it comes back it is yours ,if not it never was yours to begin with. Of course the redneck version says if it does not come back you hunt it down and kill it.

Glad to hear you got him back, and I'll throw in another vote for the invisable fence. My parents have had one for 13+ years at various houses and with training they work great. If you dont end up buying the used one off the board member here I would highly recommend the "Invisable Fence" brand, its a higher quality unit than the Wally World/Lowes brands. The only other thing to remember is after the fence is up don't forget to check the battery in the collar every month or so, ask me how I know, haha.
