Well, i was towing my jeep home on monday and my wheel came off. Right off of the spindle. But the nut looks like its still on the spindle. So i dont know how it came off. Now, i'm wondering if the spindle is replaceable or not. How many of yall use these type of axles? Give me your thoughts.

I've got a mobile home axle under my 5x8 utility trailer. Trailer is 19 yrs old. Never had a problem with it.

get rid of the mobile home axles and those odd size wheels would be the best bet. just put some old ford axles or something under the thing.

Note: I have only had bad expierences with mobile home axles, 3 different times, 3 different trailers, first trip out with each

moble home axles

go to nh northern get some replacement spindles and complete backing plates and drums if its a brake axle and replace the m. h. spindles . use the axle tube to weld on the new parts so you wil have parts thet can be bought at most auto parts stores you will have stong axle tubes and fairly strong springs .

So, i can cut the old spindles off and weld on new ones then, cool. What is nh northern?

Had the bearing go out on one one time, other than that no problems. Home built trailer towed a race car for many many seasons, now it sees duty hauling Daddys RC.

Mobile home axles are very heavy duty. Just fix it. You probably had a bearing go out due to lack of maintenance. Check all the others while you are there.

nh is northern hydraulics...

I'm not sure the hub repalcement advice is 100% accurate. My railer used to have MH axles and they could not be converted (well not reasonably. The spindle is part of the axle...you could I suppose cut, flush and re weld but at that point just buy a new axle)

my homebuilt has moble home axles under it.built it in 1988.ive hauled it as far as Maine, and to Florida.
i repack the bearings at least once a year and i have brakes on both axles.no issues.....
