Anyone else mess with trains? My son is just nuts over them and I have been building him a O gauge layout in our Family Room. Its nothing special but he likes it. Built him a mountain tunnel with a trail on top, thought you guys would get a kick out of it.

Most of it has been built by us, the bridge and the mountain we all worked on.

I am pretty proud of how the mountain turned out, Its just chicken wire over a wood frame with so left over sheet rock mud. It cost nothing to build due to having the left over material in the garage. I made a Camp site with a fire and put a red solid led in it to make it look like a coal or amber burning. Just added the leds to the bridge also.

I've been looking into the large G- scale outdoor ones,, due to no room in the house. My 17 month old loves them to,Good job on the tunnel

G gauge can get into some $$$ of course all of them can. Have you looked at going smaller, like HO or N

Have you taken him or her to Bryson City NC, The Lionel Museum is there, Hugh Lay out

trains

have not been to bryson since they quit runnung them steam loco, Going to take him to Tweestie for the railfan day in sept, I've got alot of "ho scale trains" just no room,(SMALL house) Would love to go to cass wv this fall, they run several shay locomotives

I've got an ho setup in my garage just taking up space. I've got several paper boxes full of train engines, cars, and accessories.

Anyone interested? Hahaha.

my old neighbor was huge into trains.. he was probably in his 60's..

had a sweet setup around his "playroom" darts, pool table, etc..

I bet he had 20K in his setup

your looks real nice..

when I was in Arizona a few months back the county fair was going on.. so we stopped in and I shoul dhave taken a pic of the train setu on display.. it was about 50 feet long by 25 feet wide.. had 5 different full trains running around.. very cool

I've got some N scale stuff left over from when I was a kid, hope to have time & money to build something one day...Currently I have a small Southern freight train on my desk at work, but don't have a big enough desk to make a track loop and run it.
:)
For those near Spencer, there's an awesome hobby shop (Little Choo Choo) right across from the Transportation museum.

Yeah, Were members of the Museum, We attend the Rail Days event quite often. They have a nice lay out at the event, N Scale and HO. There is also a nice lay out in Wilmington at the Train Museum there, We stumbled on to it when we were on vacation this year.
