Are the replacement mopar trannys for the 24V CTD (2000 model) improved over the originals?
Looking at a 24V that has a new mopar reman tranny.
Thanks.

There was a mopar reman'd tranny in my truck when I got it, It lasted a little over 4 years and 65k miles before it lost a bearing in the overdrive housing and fried the torque converter. I had the unit rebuilt with "Heavy-duty" parts and a DTT valve body. Truck has 306k on the original motor, and is now on its 3rd transmission.

I would recomend a DTT, or Georands Transmission if you have the cash. As for the factory reman'd having any updates I doubt it has much done, and they seem to be built to pretty poor tolerances from what I have heard.

I remember Rich researching and posting extensively on these a while back (maybe 2 years now)

Might PM him for some good 411 or maybe he will show up and comment

Power by poole is the nearest DTT guy.

If you know your way around an auto, you can buy the DTT components and DIY, to save you a few hundred. The 2 biggest things DTT does is to address internal leakage, and built to the tight side of tolerance.

There were no significant changes until 2003/4 when they went to the 48RE, which still isn't that much of an upgrade.
