More obscure parts needed - u-bolt?

Came from the same poor design that my last hinge questions came from. This time it's the bracket that is supposed to hold the object down, snapped the bottom part of the u-bolt.
Think I could just replace the u-bolt?

Anyone know a small machine shop around Raleigh that could make that piece?

drill out the rivet ends and replace with a like sized ubolt.

The only problem with that is there is minimal clearance on the mounting surface, just enough for the rivet head, or whatever that is/was.

Looks just like an s-10 blazer rear window striker. Any decent fab shop should be able to cut the remnants of the hoop out and bend a piece of round stock to weld into it.
