I had a budget jeep thread in newbie tech but I keep adding pics of the things I'm putting in or on my jeep. So I'm moving it over here. I got a 96 xj with a 6 in bds lift, flowmaster exhaust, and 34x10.50x15 super swamper tsls. I'm leveling the front, I'm putting an aluminum radiator and a new motor that's bored 30 over.

Well the motors in it already we got all the pullys on it and gettin the belt on it then just hookin it up and puttin final touches on it and it will be ready to roll.....I will update as I get it done....and thanks.
 
I feel like I need to give some background on this jeep to explain what a pain in the butt it is. I was on the way home the day a bought it and the fan tore a hole in the radiator hence the aluminum one. So I have to get it towed I drop the radiator out of my husbands jeep in and he drives back and forth to work until we reliezed we just bought a jeep with a blown up motor. Apparently the person who had it put blown headgasket fix it and we didn't know it....it had a crack in the head the size of the grand caynon hence the new motor. So none the less its been parked since like march....which is y I am extremely ready for this thing to run again. The only things I lack at this point r the 2 front shocks, one tire, a grille (probably just get the entire front clip) and patients

GOAL: for it to run by this weekend

so an update on my jeep.....which at the moment is refusing to start. Here I am (a new ecu, new distributor, new plug wires, new plugs, and new relays) later still no start.....finally last night i figured out the problem. Amazing how the thing you dont think bout is normally the problem....drum roll.....its the cps!! so looks like another $70 trip to advance.....great.

if it doesnt crank after this im gonna start seriously thinking bout dismembering it

ha..no im gettin the cps today so hopefully will know by tonight or tomorrow
 
still not crankin....if anyone can help figure this out....that would be awesome.....thanks

hopefully we can get this cranked so we can start buildin it a liitle more
 
it will turn over but wont fire unless i use startin fluid and then it still only fires for a second
theres fuel to the fuel rail but seems like the injectors arent opening
 
Check to make sure the fuel pump is coming on. That and if you can find a long metal rod, put it on the injector body and put your ear and you should hear it clicking.
 
Have you checked the timing marks (dimples) on the cam gear and the crank gear? If so, how do they line up?
 
put a noid light on it to verify the cpu is firing the injectors. then use a long handled screw driver or something similar put the metal end on the injector, and the other on your ear. you should hear it click. Does your fuel rail have a test port? if so, get a fuel pressure gauge and see what the pressure is.
